Lucy + Jorge Orta, Fabulae Romanae

The first Special Project, “Fabulae Romanae”, was specially commissioned by the Ermenegildo Zegna Group from Lucy and Jorge Orta.
Curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, it was realized in collaboration with MAXXI, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI, and with the support of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion.

The installation, conceived specifically for the museum, was exhibited to the public from March to September 2012 as part of MAXXI’s “Arte Tridimensionale” show of works from its collection. At the end of the exhibition, one of the works making up the overall installation was donated to the museum and became part of its permanent collection.

The commission, and the entire experience of the project and exhibition, became a story for multiple voices, with a special publication in English featuring color plates and a DVD, published by Marsilio, with essays and contributions by Ermenegildo Zegna, Anna Mattirolo, Maria Luisa Frisa, Gianni Biondillo, Mario Petrucci, Alessandra Mammì.
